    Need to buy a welding helmet for MIG

    Are these Auto darkening ones any good

    Recommendations pls

    Auto darkening ones are the way to go. Machine mart did a fairly cheap one that works a treat.

    they are by no means essential, but they are ace, mainly because you can keep both hands free instead of constantly having to flip the visor up and down

    After looking for some advice on http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/index.php I bought a Parweld from welders arcade. Made a big difference to the quality of my welds. If I’d known they’d come down in price so much I’d have got one ages ago.

    autodarkening lense made more of a difference to my welding than anything else i did…..

    thy are so in expensive now its not worth not having one…..

    I use a speed glas 9100

    Not because it’s expensive but after 20 odd years of using a tig welder the old helmets never used to have reactive lens and nodding to drop the visor kind of becomes common practice still do it now. Luckily it has a flip front too

    The other thing it has is a filter take off for clean air maybe if your a casual welder of little significance

    Thirdly the lens is about twice the area of all the others mega views

    I’ve used all 3 of these masks at work over the last few years and they’re all good masks depending on how much you want to spend. I think the prices are around what we paid but might be worth shopping around.
