Did anyone ride the CMBM today? I just wondered what sort of bikes the leading riders use – ht or full bouncer, and what sort of gear do they carry? I found it pretty tough going on the moors with lots of spills but these guys just seem to fly round!

I rode it. There were some bloody fast and skillful riders in the pack. The winner came in at 1hr 58min which shows an average speed of more than 13mph. Incredible really given the huge climbs and very technical decents. The moors were a ball ache – especially Midgley Moor. A real strength sapper. Gret event – could have been better sign posted.

Most of the top guys were using FS with the Orange Five being popular as ever.
