Lardy cake… it's fantastic and actually pretty easy to make.

And if anyone does make it, just try and ignore the vast quantities of pig fat that you are putting into it..

I do like lardy cake but it seems to be disappearing from the shelves. My local baker used to sell it then they closed down. When I lived in Alresford, a great deli there sold it, then shop also closed.

I do hope on the Purbecks ride there will be a Lardy Cake Stop. After all, on the Q's and Exmoor, there is a Cream Tea Stop. 😀

Count Zero: is Lardy Cake a Wiltshire delicacy? My family have Wiltshire connections and seem to think it is.

It does have to be served warm though!
