thats a unique place for the seat binder bolt! no wonder you need an adjustable post

I've never seen anything like it before

nice, looks pretty slack, what's it ride like?
Posted 1 year ago # -
i guess it makes sure you have the correct minimum insert

Very nice

That is the loveliest bike I've seen for a long time. Details please; cost, manufacturer, etc...

Agree with BH - That is lovely.
One of the most "right" looking 29ers I have seen.
Come on spill the beanz - we demand more details

You happy with it then Nige? I see what you mean about the super short chainstays.
When did it arrive and have you had a decent ride out on it yet?

Well done sir! Worked out well. May I join your new slack 29er thread?
Not quite finished yet, but you get the idea...

Looking at your pic I've mounted by front Nobby Nic (tyres changed since pic) back-to-front. I ignored the direction arrow as it just looked wrong

Thats, really, really nice.

Here's a nude pic

Absolutely the best looking 29er I've seen. My swift has envy.
Mind you, I have no idea how it rides

it'll need BB7s and wacky bars to fit in though, interesting head/down tube gusset too

Steve stickel rules.

Love it..... great piece of engineerin with the seat binder bolt, I suppose clamping it further down the tube reduces stress on the bolt/clamp as there is equal tension either side of it....

The more I looked at Steve Stickle's bike's the more 'right' they seemed. He firmly believes 29er chainstay length should be equal to 26" bikes to give the same lively/snappy handling.
He manages to fit everything in the tight BB area and achieve chainstay length of 425mm (it was possible to have gone shorter, but we opted to go with this length). Rear tyre pictured is a 2,35 Nobby Nic which measures 60mm at its widest and there's plenty of clearance left.
As for the builder/buyer experience... very different indeed from other custom builders I have been involved with. Attention to detail is nothing short of comprehensive with NO stone being left unturned

Just looked at the By:Stickel web site. Nice, but bloody hell they are expensive! I guess all those ideas, features and attention to detail don't come together cheaply.
I wish you both a long and happy life together!

tell me ther'e a model called "back" in the Stickle range?
Posted 1 year ago # -
Shamed to admit it Nige, but it looks very nice. ( declaimer, for a clown bike)

That looks fantastic! I like the bb/st/st arrangement. Got to be a whole load of fun, report back!

Looks brilliant, shame more manufactures aren't developing 29ers like this.

I can see that working nicely when standing but doesn't it feel unbalanced when in the saddle? The seat angle and position over the rear axle looks odd.
ps: nicely coloured though

some of these 29ers with the dropped bent top tube are looking a bit like a step thro skirt friendly shopping bikes?
(stands back, dons protective gear)

Only one ride so far, but with zero adaption time it was a good one. Pedaling efficiency was the first thing I noticed - gigglingly good.
Seat tube looks slack, but is 72.25° so not that slack. Head Angle is 69.25° so pointed down and it likes it

Very nice Nige, its no wonder you can never afford a to grace the dukes bar after a ride
Posted 1 year ago # -
Will it enable you to ride that chute you pushed down in Rhayader?
Does look nice though.

The only chute Nige rides is Micks corn chute

No chance i might get mistaken for wokboy.
We'll be going back there in the next couple of weeks if you're feeling brave?
I'll even slow down enough to show you the line to take this time.

Enjoyed that ride last time
