Many of you have shared the pain and constant questions as I’ve tried to find a better bike for my vertically challenged and partially disabled better half. At least 12 months of ever changing priorities and requirements, withdrawal of funding, strops and tantrums. She’s not been much better, frankly.

Finally today I managed to get her into Evans to try a Pinnacle Kauri for size. Like getting a reluctant racehorse into the starting gates.

She managed to sit on it.

    “It fits!”

“I thought it would. Is it comfy?”

“Yes, yes it is. And it only has gears on one side like I wanted!”

    “Yes, I know.”

“And the bigger wheels will help make it smoother?”

“That’s the theory. Do you want it?”

“And it’s lighter than my current bike!”

“Yes, I know. Do you want me to buy it? For you? Now?”

“Yes, I think it will be great”

    “Yes, I know”

Hoo **** ray! Pick it up tomorrow once Evans have swapped the brakes over for her. At last!

(While all this was going on, LittleMissMC had discovered that she will also fit on her mum’s new bike, but it’s not as nice as her Frog, apparently. And also that Castelli make very small ladies jerseys in a very girly shade of purple)
