So had my first crash on the road bike tonight. Riding back to Glasgow’s westend after going out with the southside chaingang. Long story short was coming through Charing cross and decked it on a straight, flat, well surfaced bit of road (not sure what happened).

Luckily there were no cars behind and i only grazed my right arm/elbow and hip/thigh. Unfortunately however i also buckled my Dura Ace 1380 front wheel. Any body have any experience with these or other carbon laminate wheels with being trued/straightened?

Help and or ridicule appreciated, cheers, Allan

Is crashing on a straight bit of road not indicative of my amateur status?

Crashing on a straight bit of road sounds like a collapsing wheel to me.

    Just a thought.

No the wheel is…was ok. Just decked it. Thinking about it now i may have been trying to clip in just before and maybe slid a shoe over the pedal under power?
