Im based for 4/5 days on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, around Hay on Wye.

Can anyone recommend us some decent routes. Big technical descents, flowing singletrack would be great…

Hay is at the foot of The Black Mountains, even better.

Y Das is mentioned on here quite a bit – looks too hard for me. I think it's on the Grwyne Fawr Reservoir black route mentioned on that website.

Don't go to Rhayader … you wouldn't like it, nothing to ride there of any interest 😉

Y Das is fantastic. Easy to walk the tricky bits. The descents down to Bwlch from Mynydd Llangors are wonderfull too.

Ystradfellte area has loads to do, all built around Sarn Helen as a backbone. Tricky, fast technical descent you say- take a look at the section of Sarn Helen here

And then there is The Gap, which many say is wonderful. Ridden anti-clockwise adds variety too!

Depending on your navigation skills, the Dan yr Ogof descent could be good. The final 4 km are exactly what you are after, getting to the start is the challenge. Best approach is from the south.

Too late, the Rhayader round is top of the list at the moment…
