I have been out of Uk for couple of weeks so this afternoon was first chance to get out on local XC run and my usual cheeky trails. Brambles were bad before I left but they were shocking today. Ankles, legs and-arms scratched to blazes and impressive looking amounts of blood. Every trail was littered with brambles in the bracken – almost turned me into a trail centre junky!!!!

Slow down (stop) and collect some blackberries – seen (and tasted) more already this year than in the whole autumn season last year. Make a lovely addition to an apple crumble or apple pie, or a bowl of vanilla ice cream.
