I have Rockshox Revelation fork which is Post mount. I was going to fit Hayes 180mm brakes so bought a Shimano 180mm Post mount adapter. However with these things i bought an Avid brakeset instead , will the Shimano 180mm Post mount adapter be ok to use with the Avid caliper or will i have trouble due to Avid rotor being 185mm?.

The rear brake has an adapter but i have a Shimano one also same as front, again 180mm would this also cause problems with the new Avid brakes?

    Help appreciated.

you prefer one type of brake mount adaptor to another? mmmkay…I tend to fit whatver I need to and leave it that. Good Luck…

LOL….reading back it did sound daft, didn’t come out as i meant it to.

Don’t want to buy another adapter if i don’t need to.

    Edit tool used 😆

The brakes will work better if you use the correct size adaptors 😉

IIRC if you are using 180 mm rotors, Shimano adaptors catch the tabs on Avid pads but you can always cut them off.

Played it safe and bought proper Avid adapter.
