Bought an ISIS BB off Rascal of this parish from the classifieds. Paid Paypal with a note “For ISIS BB.”

The transaction was immediately suspended, and I had another message:
“PayPal’s Compliance Department has reviewed your account and identified
activity that may be in violation of United States regulations administered
by the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).”

Asked me to explain myself and also “Please also explain the
    transaction message: ” ISIS .””

Because if I was trying to purchase a small quantity of terrorism (not sure how much a tenner gets you these days), obviously I’d write that in the comments box.

Well if it saved you from using an isis bb then it’s probably a good thing.

Sanctions checking software can be rubbish – normally just keyword matching.

There’s a bar in a hotel next to work with an Egyptian theme. I’m not sure how the Isis bar pay their bills.

The ISIS branding people really want to get on to this – it can’t help their reputation as lunatic executioners to be associated with second rate bike parts.

Perhaps they could hold a competition in their HR newsletter (Yes, they have an HR dept and a newsletter – you think your HR dept have hearts of ice cold stone ?) to decide on a new name ?

Haha, probably right. I keep trying to break the habit by replacing the whole lot, but then a crankset or bottom bracket come up cheap because no-one else wants them and I get sucked into the perpetual spiral again.

Actually, this BB has last a good few years of daily commuting – probably done a few thousand miles.

    Double fighter?
    Rocket Rons?
    Furious Freds?
    Ignitors?

Really though a Schalbe Insider would be be more appropriate for you and your fellow Ardent Minions.

I can see your mistake Northwind. Should have been ‘So-called ISIS BB’.

totally stupid, if you were in isis and paying for things with paypal as if you’d put isis on the invoice.

If you call it a daesh BB the bearings last longer. Apparently just calling it a different name is really powerful and effective.

I’m hoping that my quest for 26″ Specialized Butchers does not get me in trouble. Or land me in Purgatory. The Grid version.

Our Thursday night ride used to start at Milford Common.

Snakebite’s work email used to block his message so we had to rename it M***ord Common.
