Well numpty here forgot it was a bank holiday weekend coming up, so plans for a quick escape to North Devon camping have to be put on hold.
Our regular spots in Shropshire (around the Mynd) will have people. I don’t do people.

Can you recommend a nice campsite that will have very few people finding it this weekend coming? Shropshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire maybe even over the border to Wales please. Nice pub near by and dog friendly

    Thanks

I had the same thought and my answer is/was…… my back garden…but I reckon Shropshire would be a good bet, Bridgnorth?

How about the biggest campsite in the Uk?
http://www.shellisland.co.uk/camping.html North Wales. Big enough that even if busy will still have lots of space.

Even with space there’ll still be lots of people and worst of all children there 😥

If I was on my own I’d bugger off on my bike for a bivvy

If you like the long mynd area, but don’t do people, try up and over into the next valley in cardington. Leyhill caravan park or something. May be a bit quieter, nice village and country pub with access to singletrack. No idea what it’s like, just used to live in the village.

    The green at Wentnor?
Or the Youth hostle at Ratlinghope.
bit further the Elan Oaks at rhayader, its the MTB marathon this weekend but the route is east of the town, not west?elan.

    Ahh found it – http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=12482

We went here last May bank holiday and there was a total of 4 tents on site, the site is terraced so everyone gets a good view across the valley which is stunning. It’s a farm that does camping, lovely friendly owner lady. There’s a ridge across the to
Of the valley for a walk or cheeky riding and several pubs in the nearby village.

Edit: according to Os maps the ridge path is a bridleway! Winner. The jack mytton way. It looked beautiful when I went past as it’s through a wood. You could easily string along a route from the site.

That looks good Jekyll, shall look in to it, thanks.

Shall also look at leyhill and Elan oaks. The green is one of the places we normally go to so know it’ll be busy and we often stay at the Bridges pub
