Looks like there’s a few bridleways up Black Combe in South / West Lakes – does it make a good short circular loop or is it not worth checking out?

A good loop, should take max 2.5 hours, but worth the efoort of the seemingly endless climb.I live in a village at the bottom and usually ride up to Whitbeck, following the Bridleway towards Bootle and up the grassy tracks to the top. The descent to Whicham is fast, bumpy and fun. You can park in a layby near Silecroft, or Whitbeck.

As seen in an issue of Singletrack early this year too. It’s a fun loop – not very techy (good for non-rad riders), but good views and a fast descent. I can recommend Steve’s food (and drink) at the Whisky Barn in Whitbeck.
