    thermarest inside or outside?

Outside for me, but some weirdos put them inside.

Or no thermarest at all if you want to be super-light. I’ve gone without the last couple of times and it’s been fine.

In, it’s a NeoAir so I think (probably wrongly) that it’s a bit fragile.

    Only issue is sitting up.

    (Hunka XL though)

not worried about being superlight – I’m planning on sleeping out by the car so I’m ready for a dawn ride on saturday morning.

I know I could sleep in the car, but that’s never as comfortable, and I can’t be faffed with a tent.

Inside, acts as a prop and keeps the base of the bivi open.

*raises hand*. Inside for me, but again I have a fragile neoair.

    Even Weirder here

Inside my sleeping bag, inside the bivy 😯
but I use a Rab Quantum top bag (Spring to autumn)

Winter time still inside bivy but outside of the sleeping bag

I bet some of you people squeeze toothpaste from the wrong end of the tube, too 🙄 🙂

Inside, otherwise I end up sleeping beside the thermorest.

Inside. keeps the thermarest drier and you stay on it.

When using the issue roll mat: Outside. It’s easier to get things packed and away if I need to do that in a hurry.

When using my own kit in a more leisurely fashion, inside the bivibag, but outside the sleeping bag, for no reason other than it stops me slipping off the mat in the middle of the night.

inside because you will stay on top of it.

outside and you risk sliding off exp on sloping ground.

im a tooth powder rather than tooth paste kinda guy, so i have no idea what to do with a thermarest.

    Neoairs aren’t that fragile though.

At that price, I’m not taking the risk!

Depends what bag I’m using … inside if it’s my big Rab bag as the base is pretty much like a groundsheet. Outside if it’s a lightweight bivvy bag.
