Looking for suggestions for a small tarp just for head and torso cover probably for this years bivi trips. Cheap would be good...as would not weighing too much. Anyone tried the cheap camo polyethylene tarps off eBay?

Mine
http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/bivvy-kit-lists-can-i-see-yours#post-2800871Its a poncho tarp. Cost not a lot from a local army surplus kind of place. Makes good emergency backup waterproof that can go over a backpack in a downpour.

I like stuff that can be more than one thing. Did you have to add eyelets to peg it out?

No. Comes with eyelets, hood and hood drawstring and poppers down each side to clip it together down your sides when wearing it.

i made my own over the summer - £20, 1.5x2.4m (iirc), weighs less than a gnats pube.
have some material left if you would like it - £18

I've a go-lite poncho tarp, sounds like the sort of thing Stoner is talking about.
Was a little on the small side during last years WRT, both nights were drizzly and although I stayed dry and warm it was a bit of an ordeal making sure stuff didn't slip out from under cover.
I might get one of these for this year's WRT

Poncho sounds ideal then, the go-lite is a bit pricey though so will look for a highlander.
It's the WRT I am planning for, though at the moment I am gonna have to enter solo as I can't get any friends interested

Made quite a few micro tarps recently for exactly that purpose
