Has anyone been around any of the Bingley Bash route recently? Was thinking about a quick blast later this week, and wondering whether it is mainly solid or mainly gloopy?

Saturday, everything was frozen solid. I guess it will be the same for the next day or two if you get out early.

The Boggies route has more off road and much better than the one you did.

That route is certainly better. Harden moor itself has some good stuff and the footpath from the r of rycroft towards cullingworth is decent. Cottingley woods as also ok, can be accessed just up the road from the scout camp and left after the turn in the wall.

Cheers all. Looking at the Boggies route, it all seems to make sense except right at the end up near St Ives when it appears to head back up Keighley Road for a second bite at Harden Moor, descending southwards back into Harden?

Also saw a route which headed out from Cross Roads across Cullingworth/Brow Moor, looping back via Cuckoo Park Lane and Black Moor to rejoin the more conventional route. Anyone know if this is worthwhile?

Basically all winter the area gets muddy… and the snow is still metlting from earlier in the week.

If you go first thing, probably still frozen solid, later in the day expect mud.

The extension from cross roads is worthwhile. The bit you mention from harden probably means that you go up the road and take a bridleway down through st Ives estate ( pretty good) . There must be a better solution for getting to the bridleway though as the road climb is a pita.

This was pretty unpleasant today, frozen snow over sheet ice and dead slippy.

We’re meeting at the Brown Cow car park at 7pm if you want to join us. not sure if we’re doing a Bingley Bash, but will be something of that nature.

Rode from home in Bingley to work in Haworth via St Ives and Harden Moor and back again yesterday. Ground was frozen solid but may have thawed out a bit since then.

Brow Moor/Cuckoo Park is well worth doing, I much prefer it to Ellar Carr and Cold Spring. There’s also a good off-road alternative to Bingley Road, head off right up the gravel track after the turns in the road and follow your nose. And like IanV says go explore Cottingley Woods you won’t be disappointed 🙂
