I’m doing more off-road miles on my Cotic Escapade and was planning to use it as a bit of a winter replacement for the mountain bike on some of the tamer trails I ride.

I was thinking there’s enough clearance for an mtb tyre but wasn’t sure if they’d work with my existing rims – Stans ZTR Alpha 400 – will the rims be too narrow?

Thinking of getting some 29×1.75 Smart Sams to stick on it.

Thunder Burts work fine in my alphas – 2.1, alledgedgteditly. come up around 52mm on the Alphas. Outside what’s recommended by manufacturers, but no problem at all – aside from some paint rub on the forks – but that’s nowt to do with the rims. Also had the burts/alphas on the wife’s Swift. Worked fine there too.

What’s the biggest you can fit in the Escapade frame and forks?
