Just been to see cracking house.
Only problem is, it’s a wee bit small.
However, there’s the possibility of building a big (say 20ft long) shed in the garden, which could accomodate bikes, outdoor gear, tools, my vinyl and a few books.
Have you got anything similar?
If so, show us a picture.
An approximete cost would be nice too.
Here are a couple of self built sheds. Built fairly cheaply using recycled materials. My nearest neighbours are a long way off so I have no planning issues.
When I was in Orkney I self built a huge Romney shed big enough to house 15 cars. Cost were around £10k back in 2000.
Right hand part is a pellet store and covered standing for the trailer bike and Jr’s wheels.
The left hand bit is my workshop and wine store.
Built from stud on a short wall. Insulated with 50mm Xtratherm, roof made of ply laid on some purlins and tiled with black slate effect synthetic tiles. Clad in 5″ feather board made of larch from my local timber guy.
I made a storage shelf in the roof which holds all our camping stuff, spare bike parts, various rarely used household things like Paraffin and Charcoal.
I got a concrete sectional garage off of a mate for free. Only costs were £250ish for a concrete base and around £200 for new roof panels to replace the original asbestos roof.
Didnt really consider anything else. It would always have been angular gravel that locks when compressed, and local for eco/cost reasons. And always loose to prevent too much rain interception – I hate to see tarmac’d driveways.
I say 14, but its probably a mix of 14-20mm.
Limestone since its local – nice mix of pink and blue. Beware though that until its had a bit of rain you’ll get a bit of limestone dust that transfers to the soles of your boots and then kills the grass on your lawn if you tramp it around.
Someone I know got a small storage container lifted into their garden that makes a great shed that’s actually secure. Hidden by a hedge and clad in wood they’re not too ugly. Something like this:
