Jnr FD wants a scooter for Christmas. What’s the best for less than £100?

Just bought a JD bug junior for my 6 yr old. Was about £30 so loads cheaper than the equivalent micro scooter but reviews seem good. She’s not used it yet as it’s also for Xmas but looked good when it was delivered.

Get the JD Bug Original Street (£50) over the Junior Street (£30). The folding mechanism is far better and stronger. I’ve sold hundreds at work and never had a problem with one unless an older/bigger sibling or parent has been on it and broke it. Even if that has happened, it’s been few and far between.

If you want to treat the kid, MGP VX6 Pro (£100).

Roughly I usually see 6 to 8yr olds getting a JD Bug, 8 to 12yr olds getting the MGP Pro, then 12+ getting an MGP Team (£150).

Both scooters will last years, eventually as the kid gets bigger and more reckless the bearings will need swapping out in the wheels, but by them the wheels are usually shot, so spend £10/£15 and replace the lot.

The JD Bug is a folding scooter.
I’d avoid these for “serious” use.

My boys used to have these but have moved onto stunt scooters – which they use and abuse. These can cope with jumps, trips to the skate park etc

    MGP Stunt scooter

I’m sure cheaper ones are available – and the bearings all wear out equally fast.

Alternatively there’s a Mini-micro, which are the Boden of the scooter world.

Phone Skatehut and they’ll talk you through the options.

Probably should go for something more ‘stunt’ orientated as he already takes his ‘Boden’ scooter to skate parks.

Is there anything similar to the MGP but cheaper?

    H has this:

    https://www.skatehut.co.uk/brands/blazer_pro/blazer_pro_evolution_complete_scooter_anodized_black_blue.htm

It’s as good as his big brother’s MGP ( I think it’s better becuase it’s lighter, but the continual complaint is that it’s not an MGP!)

    Or there’s this:

+1 Micro Scooter for younger child. Daughter had one last year for her 4th birthday and never off it.

Got my lad one of THESE a couple of years ago when he was 4.
It’s been brilliant. Replaced one worn out wheel (about £8 on amazon).
Best thing is it’s rated up to 100kg so I can ride it too! 😀

Its like bloody bikes, little difference to suck more money out of you!

He is a big 6yr old, and would manage something for much older kids.

    The Grit Atom looks nice..£65

Mongoose Stance from Halfords looks ok for £39 ?!? If I can get this, I can justify buying him an RC Car too 😀
