Watched "The Collector" last week. Pretty good example of the whole gore / torture sub genre

Imho, i'm yet to see a better horror film than 'An American Weirwolf In London' and that was the mid 80's!!!

It's all slasher and shock these days although some of those films can be fun.

"The Host" directed by Joon ho bong, couple of years old but really really good and quite funny as well.

    or

"Evil Aliens" by Jake West from a few years back as well, but again really good and stupidly funny.

hmm, depends what sort of horror you want really I suppose:)

Agreed, depends on your definition of new horror film I suppose.

    "The Descent" was also brilliant

Great film. 'Thirst' is a really good Korean vampire film and 'Dumplings' is also 'fun'. Just watched 'Dead Ringers' again for the first time in a while and had forgotten how good it is. Me and the missus are making the most of a lovefilm.com subscription and going through a load of horror. Next up is going to be a Thai ghost story called, 'Shutter'…. no idea what it's going to be like tho. We've also got Human Centipede knocking around somewhere and will see what that's like…

oooh yeah, "Dumplings" I'd forgotten how good that was, "lady Vengeance" as well.

    It depends on environment:

Dogs of War – go for a ride in the Highlands at night
Jaws – swim offshore in tropical waters

and remember, never ever split up and stay close to the pretty virgin.

If you're not adverse to subtitles Martyrs is pretty good. If a bit overblown.

I never found it that scary….and i am not saying that in an 'i'm so cool nothing scares me' way. More that i found it more spellbinding that scary….probably a better way of wording that sentence, but halfway through The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest and it's getting good…well even gooder

Paranormal Activity. Bit hyped but we enjoyed.

Agree with this. I enjoyed it but only recall a couple of scenes which I'd construe as horror.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Blood Trails a horror film with mountain bikes.

    Not seen it – it's probably Shabba….

Let the Right One In – classic.

30 Days of Night – bit more conventional but good nontheless.

Let the Right One In. (just ignore the cat scene).

    Genre re-defining.
