Teasel has it, Sergio Leone is the master and a bit of Ennio Morricone you have perfection.

But for me it has to be.

By jove, racefaceec90 has got it. I vividly remember that from seeing it many many years ago at the cinema. Totally mesmerising.Although his clip cuts off too early- the husky running through the snow with that heartbeat… brilliant.

This is up there, for the neil young guitar

original star wars, after the scrolling text, the stars, the rumble then the imperial destroyer coming in to fill the screen.

as a kid seeing that for the first time in ’77, when your regular special effects were pretty basic, was mind blowing.

If your screen is big enough you might feel your stomach go light at 2:10

Apocalypse Now and a film called ‘Narc’. The opening sequence involves a drug fuelled chase.

Well might not be considered the best but i did love the opening sequence of the first Tranformers movie (when you realise they’d done a decent cgi job of the ‘transforming’)…

From Donnie Darko, the film that made me go to film school and ultimately do nothing with my life.

And turned me on to EATBM who I saw at 18 and was by far the youngest person there.

Saving Private Ryan has to be up there as one of the most emotive.

American Werewolf in London also has to be one of the freakiest IMO – it’s what cemented my werewolf ‘thing’ and gives me the heebie jeebies every time I’m out in the sticks at night.

The chase scene in the first 5 mins of this film was ground breaking for camera work, well before the bourne identity films.

The start of “Lord of War” is excellent as ell (life of a bullet lol)

EDIT: just read title again. ….. This is the first that came into my head, but not the best ever.

Opening scene of Quantum of Solice….pan shot accross the lake with serene musis…than BAM…you are in the tunnels with V12’s and machines guns…to the bad guy being in the boot at the end. My favourite Bond opening, marred only by the rubbish film it prefaces.
