After 2 and a half years of over-tightening the seat post clamp on my P7 to stop it moving on rides, it has seized in the frame.

I rode it the other day with the clamp backed right off in the hope that it might be encouraged to shift but its still solid. I daren’t apply too much force when trying to twist it free in case i snap it if its damaged, but I have been pretty forceful non-the-less, and it won’t budge. It will rock fore and aft a tiny bit ( enough to create a tiny gap to the inside of the seat tube ).

I sighted down the post today and it’s clearly bent – how do I get it out ??!

check out the sheldon brown website

Lack of lubrication caused this, not overtightening.

I consider myself educated. Gave up using grease a long time ago when the bloody thing twisted and moved down into the frame on every single ride putting scratches all over the post and generally spoiling my fuzziness.

    Seatpost in vice, twist frame.

Lack of lubrication caused this, not overtightening.

    This is true.
