i bought the white peaks book as i have family that way, well worth a purchase if you are doing a few rides / going back? its from the series that do books for all over the country

Did a great ride out of bakewell which isnt far away, no doubt there is endless riding.

Quick hour – 1. 5 hour spin from Belper with some lovely bits on, nice scenery too. Do it starting at Belper bridge and crossing the river up to Belper lane end. Nice beer at Farnah Green if you have time to stop.

I have a couple of nice 50 mile and 100 mile routes starting from Matlock train station, am on my phone right now, will try and remember to post them up. There are a bunch of good rides up the valley that way. You can also do train to Matlock then nice trails back to Belper.

Some great riding round Ambergate and Cromford, 3 and 7 miles up the a6, a bit hard to describe / navigate, but well worth the hassle of finding it.

Also, Fresh Basil deli for big slices of great cake (very good bakewell pudding too), George and Dragon for nice beer, and the Ritz Cinema is the best cinema I’ve ever been to, although unfortunately you have to book well in advance for most things.

a pretty decent 50 miler across the centre of the White Peak, taking in a bunch of stuff, starting from Matlock (or Darley Dale, Bakewell, Baslow, Monsal Head, Rowsley for those coming into the Peak from North or West):

One day, probably once the kid is somewhat older and lower maintenance, I will manage to take a whole long day out and do this one – 100 miles into the White Peak from nearish to my house, taking in most of the really good legal riding in the White Peak. I’ve ridden all of it, just not in one day (yet!)

Those are both pretty much 100% legal but a good range of trails on them. The 50 miler from Matlock really gives you a great view of loads of bits of the White Peak, with some quick smooth and easy linking bits on the Monsal Trail. You can also skip the big and thankless climb from Monsal Dale to Little Longstone on the way back now too, as the tunnel under Monsal Head is open for cycling.
