Got the new Bell Super helmet the other day. As many know, Bell are having issues with UK distributors at the moment so me and several others have sourced them from Europe or elsewhere.
Thought I’d share a few words and pics on my initial thoughts as I’m guessing there are a few folks wanting these as their next lid.

My experience comes from using a Fox Flux helmet before this.

My bonce is about 57cm so I went for a size medium in green.
The fit (for me) is fantastic straight out of the box. It really feels like it cups my head whereas the Fox felt like it Sat on top of my head. Obviously this is a personal thing but it really provides much better coverage than the Fox.

The adjustable retention strap also goes quite low and really provides that cupping feel to this helmet. There is no click to the adjustment wheel, it just sort of gets tighter. Very effective.
I feel like I can undo the chinstrap with this helmet and it would still stay on my head well.

It’s got shed loads of holes in it so ventilation is good. I went for a ride this evening and it’s still pretty hot so I was sweating like a pig. On the go you get a decent breeze through the vents though.

The visor is good, it’s within my vision when I look, goes back well should I want it to, and is easily removable should you want to.

The straps are comfortable and seem to do the job. Excess strap after the buckle is free to flap about whereas the Fox had a neat little rubber ring to stow it under. A tiny niggle.

The padding is great. Seems really good quality and well fitted. It also came with the Gopro mount fitted but I took it off as I’m not a fan of that POV.

Colour is BRIGHT! Paint finish is pretty good though if I was being picky, the line between the green and black lower sections is a tiny bit not brilliant in places. Another small niggle.

All in all, I’m really happy with it and would recommend trying one.

    Box-fresh!

Goes well with fields and that..

It’s all about the colour coordination

    Padding

    Visor flipped up

    Visor down

    Retention system

    Brow vents

    So anyway…yeah, it’s good.

What sort of price did you manage to get it for?

At the risk of getting all STW , did you buy a helmet without trying it on?

    🙄

If it don’t fit, send it back. It’s not as if he didn’t have another helmet.

Take a risk sometimes. It’s quite enjoyable.

I didn’t get it cheap that’s for sure, but I needed a fresh lid, wanted this one in this size and colour so options were limited. About 115 posted from a Spanish shop called Retto.
It’s cheaper at bike discount, the German shop, but they didn’t have my size and colour.

Yeah I bought it without trying it on. It fits great, so I will be keeping it.

    What’s the venting like?
My worry about these high coverage lids is heat. I run HOT!

I think the venting is adequate. It’s never going to be as good as your standard bunch of bananas type helmet, but it’s pretty good and I personally chose protection/coverage over venting. It’s all very open under there so a good amount of air can get in.

I ride in a little more heat and humidity than the UK and I have found the venting to be fine, a lot better than the Recon it replaced.
Been using mine since the beginning of June and the only negative I have found is the visor bolts, they appear to come loose easily and I have already lost one and getting a replacement from Bell is nigh on impossible, however being British I have just bodged up a solution with some M5 bolts.
I have also been running it with goggles on some trails and its a revelation although its a difficult look to pull off on singletrack/XC type trails, I have found that when worn with my Radars it does pinch a little at the side, nothing too serious.

Have you tried a motorcycle shop? They might have something similar. I think I’ll be putting some threadlock on mine…

Wore it all day at Forest of Dean today. Still liking it, though some serious eye burning going on from sweat running in…

Stewartc you might try talking to Zyro, as Bell Europe/Zyro have just emailed to say they now their distributer. Fair play to them for bothering to reply to an emailed I sent a month ago…

They say UK shops should have em soon…

what’s the weight like? similar to a pisspot? does it ‘feel’ any heavier to the Flux on your head?

It Feels light. It actually weighs the same as the flux, at around 390 grams.

Very happy with it still after a couple of weeks of use. Love it.

    . bang went my excuse

Surely your current helmet needs replacing now due to the fact the material has degraded over time and is now highly dangerous to use?

Another thumbs up for this lid, fits a bit like a Giro Feature but feels lighter and ventilates at least as well as a Fox Flux

Bloody things are flying out, 2 wheels have had two deliveries of these and now only have two left in stock! Medium green maybe and a white large which I couldn’t face owning for the next 3/4 years (maybe another medium in the back, no good to me)
    Doh!
