In times requiring beer, somethimes I resort to lobbing a few bottles into the freezer, invariably, I forget occasionally.

When I’ve done this, Budvar doesn’t freeze!

Same freezer, same time in, Staropramen froze the minute I opened it, Budvar poured. Thick, but it poured.

What’s in Budvar that makes it freezer proof?

You appear to have broken science. As it should freeze.

Was going to say higher pressure would do it.

Were you to give it a good shake before putting it in, leave it for a few hours, open it gently when you take out you’ll get a beer slushy once you pour it into a glass. 😀

I threw in a bottle of ginger ale earlier, only supplies in the house were 2 cans of lager and a bottle of the pirate’s finest.

I was genuinely confused 10 minutes ago when I poured it and it came out chewy….

Why would you want cold beer?
It should be the same temperature as the pub where it is stored in small barrels and poured by opening a tap whereby gravity lets it dribble opaquely into a handled mug.
    Oh you mean p**s/lager

Why does it freeze after opening? I noticed this last night when I took my beer out if the freezer.

    I like my beer cold.

    Mmm cold beer.

    Beer, beer, beer.

Why does it freeze after opening?

Adiabetc cooling as the bottle depressurises when you take the top off?

Why does it freeze after opening?

If it’s under sufficient pressure in the bottle, it’ll cool below it’s freezing point at atmospheric pressure and thus be supercooled – so once it’s opened and not under pressure anymore, it just needs slight agitation or an activation point, eg. being poured into a glass to start to freeze.

Remember our last ski trip when I discovered this to my detriment. Beers out on the balcony. Everyone opens been and starts to enjoy except me. My beer freezes instantly as does the next three I open.

Was most upset as everyone quaffed there beers and I heated my larger on the hob shaking fist in the air ‘I hate you science!!’

As I know I am right I shall rise above all this new fangled trendiness.
Sort of on the subject, what shall I go and get to go with the venison that going on the BBQ later? I fancy some rough as hell cider.

Unless your somewhere decent to get good home brew then Old Rosie is about the best of the commercial bunch.

You are right Matt. I’m not good on the cider front but there’s certainly better than Old Rosie but I never remember their names. Currently drinking a DNZ Pale Ale served at cellar temp sat in a bar in Newcastle, whilst the Mrs is shopping.
