Posted a few weeks back about a creak/crack noise from the rear of my bike…it is getting worse now and I think it is my bottom bracket – doing the classic wiggling of the cranks at the 4 points of the compass, I can feel a bit of knock/wobble whilst left crank is at 9 o’clock, but at all other points, there is no knocking. I’m holding each crank and pushing them back and forth across the bike, then rotating them 90 degrees and repeating.
It has been so long since I’ve had a bb that needed replaced (tended to end up replacing the bike before it did need replaced or have the crankset/bb fail on me and the whole thing needed replaced) that I’ve forgotten if this is a bottom bracket on way out of a loose crank – Sram X1 crankset and the crank bolt appears to be done up proper tight – 8mm allen in and attempted to be tightened – no movement.
Ordered up a new BB as I’m pretty sure it is a sign of the BB on the way out…but just posting to check I’ve not got anything mixed up!
