I’m going to be swapping the old faithfuls onto the new bike soon and I thought I’d treat them to some new cables. Who’s using what, any recomendations or ones to avoid?

Just standard cables for me but full length. Nothing really to go wrong IME unlike gear cables or split rim brake ones which are much more in the line of fire.

Cheapest clarks from halfords, they work perfect with these.

Compressionless, so works a bit better with cable discs, though I found the road BB7’s more sensitive to spongy brake outers than the MTB versions.

I think that’s what I’m using at the moment to be honest…

Clarks are working for me. I’ve been tempted to go for the compressionless type just to see if it really does make any difference.

Just standard SP41 or whatever it is – they work really well.

Avid Full Metal Jackets, improve the lever feel a lot but I’m not sure if you can still get them.

Jagwire, complete set of outers and inners for £20 from On One do the job for me.

Clarks work fine for me also. I’ve used several others such as Jagwire and noticed no discernible difference so cheap and cheerful is the way to go.
