    ….what are the real world differences/benefits of monocoque? Or is it saving 50g and having to buy a compression based steerer bung?

    Weight saving primarily, may be slightly stronger/stiffer, but strength wise at least one would hope all forks would be made adequately strong for the intended use.

    50g might not be much, but then the CSU doesn’t weigh much in the first place – if you saved that percentage on every component you’d have a significantly lighter bike.
