  • Awesome Web Companies in East Mids – recommendations…

One of the companies in our group is looking for a refresh/new build of their ecommerce site, but it’s proving a bit tricky to find ones that come recommended. Ones we’ve dealt with in the past all seem good up front but end up outsourcing the coding work to freelancers so you get no continuity.

As a guide our MD likes the look and features of the Planet X website. And the Magento platform has come up as a scaleable ecommerce base to build off.

    So any recommendations!

The reality of the industry is that people move between agencies quite often, even as ‘permanent’ employees, never mind freelancers.

If continuity is important, why not look to a freelancer directly and have them work with one of your own employees to ensure that the knowledge is held in a place you can control? I have been doing this on my most recent contract and it works well. Just entering another, similar arrangement now…

My friend Mel. She is awesome, and based in the Midlands.
She does some beautiful websites(including her own) and worked on Abney and Teal and Rosie and Jim, the kids tv programmes etc… 🙂

Mel Skellon doesn’t appear to do ecomms – pretty much rules her out then as ecomms is a very specialist branch of web development.

Visualsoft are a good shout, although a bit of a treadmill of a process – they do just churn out lots of template-driven stuff.

I’d call http://ampersandcommerce.com/ myself but they will be expensive.

    Thanks all so far.

Visualsoft and Ampersand look worth pursuing – they seem to offer the sort of thing we are after.

Mel Skellon’s work looks fantastic but as johndoh say’s we are after an ecommerce specialist.
