Any recommendations for looped runs, there and backs ?

How far? The Cairngorm 50 Sportive route is pretty nice.

Aviemore to Carrbridge, stay on NCN7 to Tomatin, turn left up Strathdearn turn right up a wee road to Farr, turn right again on the B851 to eventually go under the A9 just south of Daviot, up the hill on the B9154 and take NCN7 back to Tomatin and back the way you came. 90km/1000m.

The snow should have gone by now 🙂

Off top of my head, Aviemore to Grantown (Speyside Way at a push, or through Nethy Bridge), N on the quiet and lovely B9102 to – well, any jump off point along that route (across at Delnapot would be short cut, or then across to Marypark, or Dailuaine) – when you get as far as Archiestown, drop down to head through Aberlour, Craigellachie, Dufftown, (if shorter, can head over past Ben Rinnes and into Glen Rinnes more directly), then S towards Glenlivet, Tomintoul, back in towards Nethy Bridge and Aviemore via Coylumbridge..

1.anything that isn’t the A9
2. Up to the ski lift.

Why not to the lift car park ?

I think he’s suggesting that you should go up to the car park

Aha, makes sense, lovely run up the hill from the town !

Every time I’ve seen that road, it’s convinced me that skiers drive like utter nutters.

A very pleasant short run is to take the loop to Kingussie & back. if you go out on the A96 and come back on the B970 then you can stop by the Inschriach plant nursery on the way back for some excellent cake.

How about…

Aviemore- ski road – back road towards Boat of Garten – turn right to loop in forest, passing Loch Garten – rejoin back road just outside Nethy Bridge – East to join Grantown-Tomintoul Military Rd – Tomintoul – NE through Glenlivet – Follow Avon to Ballindalloch – Cross to N of Spey just downstream Ballindalloch – Grantown – Carrbridge – Aviemore.

About 100km, interesting mix of forest, moor, river, farmland. Mostly quiet roads, good visibility, plenty of villages and towns with decent café stops. Heading out beyond Tomintoul offers some decent climbs if you want a longer day out.

Or Carrbridge, up roand Lochindorb and along river Findhorn (loads of options) back via Grantown, Nethy Bridge and Boat of Garten…

Or on the old main road through Kincraig to Kingussie (as stevious says, can be extended with an out and back to Newtonmore, Laggan and beyond easily) cross the Spey onto the back road by Ruthven barracks, then follow the back road past Insh, Feshie, etc etc (and explore loops up the various dead end roads to the South) all the way to Grantown, turn back through Carrbridge etc…

From Aviemore catch the train to Pitlochry then return via A924 to the A93 through Glenshee, A939 over the Lecht. After the Bridge of Brown take the unclassified road to Nethy Bridge then back to Aviemore on the B970.

nice route swavis but too much for Mrs TLR im afraid.
