Seems as if this chap is going to get paid 1.2 million per year to turn round failing banks, supported by us the tax payer.
For a tenner,or some spare tubes, id have told him how to cut costs, Sack the existing management, switch the lights off at night, stop all the corporate sponsorship, take back all the company,(now taxpayer funded cars) and close branches and amalgamate them with the post office branches.

Shit ive just told him what to do, anyone else want to send me a tenner.

All this on the day when the highly skilled oil workers have been sacked,by a foreign oil company.

this chap is going to get paid 1.2 million per year

That’s fairly old news – it was announced november last year when he was offered the job – presumably he doesn’t like to get out of bed for less then £1.2 million.

    .

And to be fair, it must be hard work sacking 20,000 low paid bank staff for mistakes which they didn’t make.

    .

What is news however, is that £1.2 million per year salary apparently isn’t enough. And the greedy Tory banker, now needs big bonuses to make him feel in anyway motivated.

    .

What is also news is :

“The bank, which is expected to approve the package this week, has also hit the headlines this weekend with The Mail on Sunday reporting that the bank is set to spend up to £300,000 entertaining at Wimbledon.

The bank’s top executives will receive a ‘corporate hospitality’ package at the tennis championship which includes gourmet food and bottles of vintage champagne, worth £75 a bottle.

The luxurious entertainment suite, reserved by the bank, is set to cost almost £20,000 a day, according to the newspaper.”

hang on a moment, it was the construction workers that were sacked, for an illegal strike.

Their reason, 50something contract workers ‘sacked’.

Now heres the thing, they were contract workers, contracted to build something. With no promise of more work.

So supprise suprise once the thing was built, they were out of a job!

The moral of the story, if you want job security, dont take the short term better pay of being a contractor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bottles of vintage champagne, worth £75 a bottle

IIR the contract workers were sacked while foreign contract workers were being hired – not cricket imo

50 may have had their contracts ended, but then when other workers walk out in suport of them, and strike because another company is recruiting foreign workers, then that has to be a rightful strike.

    The reveloution starts soon.

    recruiting foreign workers

Not foreign, from the EU. That’s what the EU is about, free movement of goods and labour.

“I do think banking pay in some areas of the industry is way too high and needs to come down and I intend us to lead that process.”

Presumably he’s referring to the £15k p/a counter staff there then.
