I’ve somehow* managed to strip the thread in the cleat plate in my Defrosters.

    (* hamfisted twattery)

As a result my cleat is now held on by one good bolt and the other is finger tight only.

Where can i get a new plate from? And second, the inside of the boot beneath the insole seems to be a sewn in silver foil type material, is my only option to slice the footbed to get at the cleat plate?

I also am aware there’s a second set of holes in the cleat plate, but one of these has the remnants of another bolt in that’s had the head drilled off already which i can’t get at without getting the cleat plate out anyway. And it wasn’t me that did it, this was a prior owner issue!!

If you cut the lining out they won’t be waterproof anymore.

Could you epoxy a bolt in? It’d almost definately hold, but would be the last cleat you ever install to them. But at least you’d get one more winter from them.

get a new plate, shimano sell them or use to.

    retap to the hole,

    tape over the lining.
