Best I’ve seen is £14 quid for wire 2.35 high rollers at all terrain cycles.

Sorry, I forgot to say that I want dual ply and wide as possible, for my forthcoming trip to Morzine (so not really as above 😳 )

If I didn’t already have too many tyres I might have taken a punt on these…

I hear that Maxxis prices are set to skyrocket soon – like £70 per tyre – so do your research and buy sooner rather than later if that’s the brand you want

I can advise talking to either 18 bikes or Jon @ bicycle smithy who might be able to help

I have been debating the same. Am off to Les Arcs and not sure the verticals are going to be right however they are what I have and am used to so tenners on some DH tubes and fingers crossed. On one have some good deals on Fat Alberts etc but Maxxis seem to be expensive everywhere.

Might be able to do you a deal on some lightly used dual ply 2.5’s (think thers a 2.7 in the garage somewhere too) depending how soon you want them. I’m away until the weekend…

Silly prices these days. Shame as I need some too – might plump for some of those wire jobbies at All Terrain.

Anything else out there similar to a High Roller? All rounder, verging on the g-narly side of riding about 2.35″?

Saw some 2.5 michelin hots for 12 quid each no idea if they are any good but certainly fat, luggy and heavy duty

On One have some half price Fat Alberts in 2.4, last time I looked

    here you go

the evo line is ‘tubeless ready’ so (presumably) will have a thicker sidewall than regular FAs (but not as thick as a UST). Stick a thickish tube in and you should be fine.

I’ve run FA in the Alps for the last 3 years and they’ve been excellent

Not dual ply or that cheap (£20)! £5 cheaper than a High Roller of similar spec.

Agggh, So many tyres to choose from. What’s a good (reasonably cheap) 26 2.5, dual ply DH tyre suitable for a week in the Alps?

Join the club! I’m going for the Michelins no point in spending more for a week eh..

Specialized Clutch at £35 for DH or £30 for SX is a good buy- great tyres, like a Highroller but better in the damp and slightly faster, and they last incredibly well for a sticky tyre. The SX carcass is a nice option, it’s basically ply-and-a-half, tougher than normal tyres but lighter than duals. They size up almost accurately so their 2.3 is about the size of a Maxxis 2.5. I haven’t found a downside tbh.

It’s not so much the price of maxxis dh tyres I object to, it’s the rate the supertackies wear (and the way the grip fades as they round off).

Where are you and when are you going on Hol?

I have some brand new Fr Minions 2.5 Dual Ply Super Tacky @ £30 each, can be delivered/collected in the Stafford or Warrington areas, don’t really want to post.

Off to Glasto tomorrow until Mon so it will be Tues next week before I can sort out.
