my commuting hybrid has deore m520 hubs.i have never serviced them 😳
the otherday i started getting an odd squeack from the rear.thout it was the (rim) brakes but it appears to mbe the hub.it is notchy and doesnt spin far before stopping.
ive just undone the cones and popped some more grease in and adjusted cones.much smoother now but not perfect.
can you get cones and balls or just balls and if i change them all what do you recon the chances of success are?

i cant seem to find the rebuild stuff on chain reactions site either???

Your LBS (and even Halfords) sell the sets of axles, cones and balls that will solve your problem. Of course you cant replace the cups – theyre built into your hubs. If youve sh****d them then its you own fault.

    Damn you too! lol

You need shimano cones and bearings – IIRC Shimano's are pretty much all the same size.

BUT, if you've knackerd the cones and bearings then the cups are probably worn too. Not that that's necessarily an issue, particularly for a commuting though.
