i am trying, without success, to find an acrylic vacuum chamber (for stabilizing wood) in the UK that doesn’t cost over 300 quid. so does anyone work with acrylic that could possibly make me one of these??vacuum chamber
i am quite willing to pay but it isn’t something i am willing to pay a ridiculous sum for and the lead time for delivery from the US is silly

Bought one of their ~~10 litre metal ones with an acrylic lid for unrelated purposes at work, and remembering it being pretty reasonable.

AVE wanted 395 quid for a 4″x10″ acrylic chamber, at which point I started laughing!

I’d find some containers and experiment. Wrap in tape so that any implosion keeps the bits together.

Does it need to be clear?
If not I’m sure there are loads of off the shelf fittings that could be used in steel?

Clear is better as I need to be able to see the state of the wood submerge in the resin and the level of the resin in the tube once the vacuum is removed. The majority of smaller vacuum chambers on sale in the UK are for degassing resins before use.

(I’m sure we paid a fair bit less than that for a bigger, steel one with an acrylic lid, but it was a couple of years ago)
