About to build up my road bike ss and was just going to use a tensioner but wondering mech would work ok

only know 1 person who’s used a mech for that in the past and that was to compensate for full sus movement

yep, I’ve used a mech fine – just a bit of cable end in there and tightened to move the mech suit the chain line.

I’ve used one for about 4 years on my commuter, no probs at all. Old knackered Ultegra short cage road mech. Use the stop adjustment screws to line it up. Bosh.

I had thought it’d save me some cash as will put gears on it in the summer but just realised it’ll be 10 speed so that won’t really work out. ah well maybe just find a cheap mech

I used to use a mech and it worked better than a dmr tensioner as my chain line was crap.

use a superstar tensioner, £10 so probably cheaper than a mech and less faff too.
