The pads on my XTs are getting a bit on the thin side, so I’m torn between going for el cheapo (no names, no octoporn) replacements or heading to the other end of the scale. I recall a certain component supplier (no names, no octoporn) claiming that SwissStops had the best stopping power, good wear resistance, would improve my bike handling skills and might even bring about world peace – so are they really that good?

I’ve got them in my Mini’s. Not cheap, but they have lasted me two trips to the Alps and still going strong. They certainly have more bite than the stock Mini pads, but then you’d expect that with semi metallics vs organics. I’ve also got some superstar pads, but haven’t had the need to use them yet. Would be interesting to compare them to the Swissstops.

Hmmm – so if I were going on wear alone they’d need to last 4 x the life of a set of bargain pads or 1.5x a set of other higher quality/more expensive pads. Anyone else got any comparative experience?

Std good-quality pads last me so long and work so well I’ve never felt the need to spend a squintillion pounds on a single pair of pads.
