  • Anyone ride a trials bike? 20" wheels a bad idea?

A niggling knee injury has kept me from riding for months now, so I’m thinking about getting a trials bike to muck about on.

There seems to be a few about on eBay but most are 20″ wheels, will they be too small for a 6ft bloke?

There will be plenty of 6ft tall people across the land riding them. I’m 5ft 10 and used to love riding mine. It might feel a bit alien to you if you’ve never ridden one before though.

Surely this will be more strenuous on your knee?

Trials riding will not do your knees any good. What about flatland BMX?

But back to point: from my brief trails phase tiny wheels are harder to land, but easier to jump. I was on 26″, and didn’t really find 20″ very useful. I can really see why Danny McCaskill is on 24″

Really? I just thought it was hopping around on stuff.

My brief experiment with bmx on the skate park seemed all upper body. I’m not looking to pull off big moves, but more things that will help on the trails.

Flatland looks far too rad, but strangely alluring.
