Can anyone identify this rather large beastie? Freed from kitchen window yesterday, can't recall seeing anything like it before.
Anyone know their beetles? Big bug identification required.
Just had a quick flick through MrsP's 'British Insects' ID book and it looks like Rhagium mordax. Definitely NOT a baby robin.
Are you sure it's not an Ant-Trojan horse?
And still no mention of a certain mop-topped four piece band from Liverpool.
Rhagium mordax it is.
Great stuff, thanks for that thepurist - it wasn't in our book.
It's got a great English name
"The blackspotted pliers support beetle"
looks poisonous..... squish it
