OK, my slidey seatpost (a Rase FWIW) is beginning to wear off its anodising and I reckon death* may soon follow
*sloppiness anyway
Is some sort of re-anodising a realistic possibility in terms of prolonging the post's life ?
Is there more than 1 type and are any of them notably hard-wearing ?

Most anodizing is between 5 - 35 microns. Any thicker than this and it tends to craze/crack.
Lower micron is generally for indoor uses .. that said we used to anodize chassis for some top luxury/sports cars between 5 - 10microns .. so .. 
I would suspect your seat post to have a lower micron if it has worn off. The problem you have with reanodizing is that you would need to strip the existing anod off first .. then re - etch .. and then anodize .. your post will get thinner .. not by alot, but maybe by too much.

Anodising is not a coating, it is basically accelerated aging of the metal surface.
it is achieved via electrolysis, various dies can be added to the solution, which gives you the colours.
re-anodising is a 'subtractive' process, especially if you have the existing surface stripped first.
