A 20-ish Swedish lad I know has just landed up in Edinburgh and needs some work. He's got little work axperience apart from the usual bartending type stuff, and has also played low-league professional footy in Sweden.
Any ideas, please?

Loads of temp work at the moment, try some local agencies.

Private hire cab companies are ALWAYS taking on staff at this time of year. Just have a look on Gumtree Jobs.
Costs £50 to get a private hire licence. Most companies don't require experience, some are even okay without a clean driving licence: I've been offered a job with one and I have a current SP30 and a 10 year old DR10. And there's a hell of a lot more to that than just me being pissed and driving, before anyone gets on their soapbox.

Low league professional footballer you say . Try here..
I can imagine that there are a few other teams in the SPL that would probably sign him up as well!

Probably get a game for Hibs or Hearts if he's played low league footy in Sweden. I expect the standard he's used to will be higher.

I noticed these while out running last night: Chinese take away in Blackhall looking for a delivery driver, and the optician next door to it looking for a receptionist.

I noticed when I was down in Leith a few weeks ago that loads of places had notices in the window. Weekly pay type stuff but a job is a job and all that.
The motorbike shop was looking for a "bike valeter" which I guess means cleaning dirty bikes for lazy types like me !

Wouldn't be too bad a job in the summer, but I don't fancy it at this time of year...

If it's down in Leith it'd probably mean working for Carrick, if they're as good an employer as they are a bike shop I'd rather eat my own head than work for them.

Aye thats the one - are they rubbish ? Only Yamaha dealer near me. Nobody rates Two Wheels either and the place in Gala had a couple of right monkeys behind the counter.
P.S Moses. Er, pics ??

Getting OT but they're thieving c**ts basically. Various long stories but the shortest one was trying to charge me for a replacement starter motor when all they'd done was repair a burnt wire. Wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire now. Still it's been my great pleasure to have cost them about £15000 worth of bike sales since then
More time consuming than a jobby in a box but ultimately more satisfying.2 Wheels have a decent workshop but not a great retail op. Saltire seem best of the bunch to me, though the shop's a bit limited, I'll be honest and say they do know me there and so I might be getting better service than most but I can't fault them despite being a horrible negative git.

Thank you one and all!
I'll pass this on, and for Hels I'll get hold of a pic if you give me an email address.
Any more suggestions will also be welcome, folks!Posted 1 year ago # -
