I’m contemplating buying a Garmin 810 and interested to know from folk who already have them which maps you have and how you rate them.

I’m a 75% road, 25% off road hr monitor, power meter type. To be honest I can’t see me using the routable aspect (ie the bit where it works out your route for you on the fly) but can imagine using the directing you along a preplanned route aspect.

Which maps do you use? Is the garmin city navigator maps any better than the free maps you can download from OpenStreet maps? Is the OS mapping of any use on a screen that small with such poor resolution (I currently use OS maps via memory map on my iPhone in my back pocket as my go to navigation aid)? I can’t work out if it will give you turn by turn directions on a route mapped on an OS map.
