There’s some good stuff up around Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen, stuff like this:

I’m pretty sure that the local tourist offices had route maps, but I can’t find one online.

    And there’s this in August : http://www.eigerbike.ch/

The DH trail at Wiriehorn’s really good fun – fast uplift and a couple of different, very well-built trail options. Think there might also be some trail rides from the top of the lift as well? http://www.wiriehorn.ch/sommer

We really struggled for uplift in Grindelwald – we were told quite emphatically that they wouldn’t let us take bikes on any of the chairlifts, trains or cables, so we gave up. That was in 2009.

There are trails, it’s just that the best ones aren’t terribly well signed.

There is a great bike shop in Lauterbrunnen called Imboden Bike and the guy in there is a keen rider. Best bet will to be to head into there for tips.

There has been a few threads on it before on here with some pics. Think it turns up with a search for lauterbrunnen in the advanced search!

The MTB maps from the tourist offices are OK, but most of the official signposted routes are fire road at best (and often tarmac!).

You can buy ready marked maps with suggested singletrack http://www.singletrailmap.ch/singletrailmap/index.php

I’ve had occasional grief from ramblers using some of these routes because they aren’t the signposted specifically for mtb (I think you were legally allowed to use the wanderwegs but the signage confuses matters).

There is a nice couple over at Meiringen (Sandra and Bernard) – they’ll do guiding for a reasonable fee if you explain the type of riding you are after.
