    I have inherited a sony vaio VGN-FW31E laptop.

    Looks very nice.
    Intel centrino 2ghz/4gb ram/400gb hd/16.4 screen
    Was running vista.

    Only problem is the drive has been formatted and on bootup it just says BOOTMGR is missing.
    So the h/d is empty.

    I dont have any discs to go with it – can any body help?

    What exactly do i need to buy to enable me to get it up and running?

    Never had to do this before – would be a shame to bin it

    Download a recovery disc or use another full recovery disc to repair the install.

    If you go to the Sony site and the support section you can download complete recovery software.
