Carbon fibre penny farthing eBike

Putting an eBike motor in the back wheel would have made it much more fun. 🙂

you just get the feeling that this is an industrial designer who doesn’t ride a bike

the penny farthing was dangerous, too much weight over the front, and this fails for the same reason – the back brake will just lock the rear wheel up because it’s fundamentally unweighted… I prefer the Dahon cruiser 🙂

My version is pretty horrible to ride though compared to the upright penny farthings.

The more upright position of the real thing puts less steering torque into the pedals.

My version is a real knack to get right. Great in a straight line on the flat, but any sort of hill where you have to pedal hard becomes a steering nightmare.

Helps to have long legs like my lad. 🙂
