Anyone else wish they’d chosen a cooler forum name?

Now the dust has settled I wish I’d gone for a ‘Ma’ name: Ma Laise, Ma Carb or Ma Jong. Wow, that’d be cool.

Alternatively, I could just have been The Almighty. In that case, every post would have ended with the line:

    “KER-POWWW. Take that, sinners.”

Mine is as good as it gets TBH.

Non-automated sign-offs are for tools. Even chewkw has realised this.

Quite like my name, only problem is that no one knows how to pronounce it when you speak to them in real life! It’s not Seo-Sam, It’s Showsa! (gaeilge for Joseph:)

I’m thinking of changing mine to ‘Its All My Fault’

Just to save Jamie and Phil the trouble of pointing it out.

I’ve often been tempted to establish an alternative persona under the Pseudonym “Horas Gay Dog”. But he recently put it in a bag with some bricks and threw it off Jacksons Bridge into the river Mersey, before nipping into the nearby bushes for a bit of action

I took advantage of a name change during the great STW crash of 2008.

@seosamh…not telling you how to pronounce your own name, but I’d always say “Show-siv” i.e. pronouncing the “mh” as somewhere between an ‘f” and a “v”.

“Show-sa” sounds a bit like “Seoirse”, which is gaeilge for George.

Never heard of the siv thing though, Any gaeilge speaker I’ve spoken to always said sav or sa to me.

*disclaimer, I don’t speak Irish btw(bar a couple of welcomes etc), though I do wish it was something my grandparents passed down, got lost at my fathers generation though.

I wasn’t clever enough to realise it was gaeilge. Truth is, I suspected you were called Sam. 😳

Well, just trying to write it phonetically 😕 the sound before the “v” is that vowel sound that we don’t really have a letter for. I knew a few Seosamhs in school and they were all “v” at the end. But agreed…in some far flung Gaeltachts, they’d not bother with the last few letters.

I think Annagry and Rosapenna in Donegal, probably about as far flung as you get! 😀

More might follow, but I reckon it would be kinder to let that thread die with dignity…

Agreed. Any specific ideas come to mind? I kind of like Sojourner Truth.

    Thrust Wilderspleen.
I feel it captures my handsome, dynamic yet ultimately sympathetic side.

Or perhaps Serge Perchmaster, which might give me more credibility in the world of pornographic sci-fi wildlife documentaries which I direct in my spare time.

There is a guy on the Manchester Evening News football pages who goes by this catchy name:

I am GOD (19x Champions) Chicharito is The Chosen One, Sir Alex Ferguson is the true special one, Manchester

If more proof was needed his comments are generally deranged as well.

I always thought ‘Judge Mental’ would be a fine and appropriate user name for this place, don’t ask me why because I’d just have to question your riding ability and condemn you out of hand ad nauseum.

Mine is a bit lame and simply derives from John Noakes from Blue Peter shouting at his dog. I have thought about changing it to something even more stupid like DV Ant or Mabozza Ritchie.

Best name on here has to be Medieval Knievel.

I don’t know, I think DV Ant is pretty inspired!

I sometimes wish I’d gone for a pseudonym like the rest of you ‘hiding behind the internet’ freaks. Then I could’ve got help with personal stuff that’s too embarrassing to publicise under my own name.
Donkey Puncture was one I came up with, but I gave it to a mate (This was around the time the film came out (Donkey Punch, that is)).

It took me long enough to come up with this hilarious name. If you knew what it meant you’d understand why it’s so hilarious and why it gives me hours of fun on so many levels.
An alternative name… deadlydarcy… because I want to be like deadlydarcy when I grow up and one of my distant relatives was an Irish Prime Minister, or something like that.

That’s just one of the many levels, see? The higher quality marque of fruit juice that the vast majority of the population both know and love. 😉

i don’t care about anything mentioned or discussed in this thread other than-

I’ve often been tempted to establish an alternative persona under the Pseudonym “Horas Gay Dog”. But he recently put it in a bag with some bricks and threw it off Jacksons Bridge into the river Mersey, before nipping into the nearby bushes for a bit of action.

that made me laugh. even though it’s all true.
