I suppose for the price, you don’t mind if it gets trashed.

My money’s on it not being that bad.
£44.99 for an Aldi job or £300 for something more fashionable? Let me think.

My money is on it being possibly half as good as the top end kit – which on paper doesn’t sound bad. However, who wants <50% quality video footage, whatever the price?

From the links above – hard to tell on Pootube, but it looks far from HD quality and struggles with changes in exposure.

Depends on your budget dunnit? If youv’e only got say £75 to spare, you aint gonna buy a £300 GoPro are you, & £45 is gonna give better than nowt.

However, I won’t be buying either cos I’m so crap I don’t even want to see how crap I actually am! 😆

If YouTube teaches anything its that generally people don’t really care about the quality in their own footage, in either video or content.

I’m really quite impressed with the quality and looking forward to taking some films in morzine this summer and following my three kids around CYB in June!

Its exactly the same as my Rollei Youngstar which was £30 at christmas but 7dayshop don’t sell them anymore. Not great but ok. Haven’t used in in proper sunlight yet though so might be better than I give it credit for.

Here’s a very dull but thankfully short video I took on mine a couple of months ago, sorry for the sound it got mucked up during uploading.

I added this to the other thread, but here you go:

We got something similar from eBay. The quality isn’t that great, but good fun.

It’s like this one (but from a different seller) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231080215184

Anyone tried the SJ4000? Seems to have a wider 170 degree lens plus all the required mounts

Seems to get a good write up on techmoan

135° view angle, 30fps max? You’ll get choppy footage mostly of the ground…

You can pick up a decent (older model) drift now that will do 720p @ 60fps and has a 170° view angle for just a few sheckles more…

I don’t like the wider view angle. Anything in front of you (e.g. another rider) seems miles off and it makes any drop-off to the side look vertical.

The hitachi I have does 60fps at 720p.

FYI – i bought a SJ4000. Very impressed with the footage, indistinguishable from the GoPro to me. Had to set the white balance to “cloudy” rather than “auto” (otherwise theres a blue-ish hue), but once thats done its great. Very clear footage, can see the texture on the road surface, seems to work well at dusk (not tried at night). I’ve not uploaded anything to youtube, but theres loads on their anyway.

I’ve got my eye on one of those SJ4000s, the files that the rollei puts out are HUGE!! (10gbish for a 90 min ride)It only does AVI’s that SJ4000 should be a lot better puuting out .mov files.

I never knew they were making a usable camera at that price (sj4000). I’m very tempted at under £70 on ebay.

I’ve tried the SJ4000 also, impressive quality footage, I haven’t tried the ‘cloudy’ setting but I have found the footage to be a little bluish so I may try that.

Also try bumping the exposure comp up +0.3 if your footage is looking a little dark.

What mounts are you lot using? I’ve tried bolting it to the handlebars, but the footage is really shaky.
