Away with work next week and taking bike instead of sitting in bar. Was thinking of heading to Malvern hills but anything closer?

Malvern is about 50 mins away, Wyre Forest is the same, Cannock is just over an hour.
Not ridden Wyre so don’t know about it but the Malverns have plenty of mixed riding (if you know where to look 😉 )

Lickey hills, worth a couple of hours blast if you know where you’re going & only 20 mins away from Alcester, Clent the same, wyre is great but you’ll need a guide for the best stuff

What sort of riding do you want? Bredon hill and Broadway area are pretty close to Alcester with enough off road for a night ride .

Yep there’s nothing that requires a mountain bike very local to Alcester unfortunately. If we go out local it’s usually just linking up various pubs. .

You can head up Oversley wood, 5mins from town nothing up there interesting riding wise although some lads have started working on some of the old lines again fixing up a couple of jumps but little else. Take the track around the perimeter of the wood for the closest to Singletrack you’re gonna get.
If you want to take in some pubs exit past the “castle” and head down to the three horseshoes or the Fish or both at Wixford, a bridleway leads along the side of the bypass and gets you either back into town or up the farm tracks back to the wood.
The other end of town you could head out toward Coughton /Gt Alne over the trig point, linking bridleways will get you over to Aston Cantlow with a choice of two pubs opposite each other. Head back into Gt Alne an pop into the Huffcap then back into Town.

You could also head West out of town past the fire station and up Allimore lane and into Cold Comfort wood, again not much here riding wise but still a nice place to be.
Town pubs, Turks head,Holly bush, Three Tuns, Cross Keys would be my pick, nothing wrong with the Nelson, Dog or the Bear either, well maybe not the Bear.
