Anyone used a bike friendly Air B&B in Finale Ligure for a long weekend/week?

Yes, got one booked for next week for the EWS, i’ll try and dig the details out.

Finale is bloody awkward to get to it would appear, however 🙂

mate used airbnb last year. 8 of them. they ended up with a place complete with a pool, but it was a bit of a slog up the hill out of town. meant they had either a tricky trail (that he couldn’t ride) or an asphalt orgy to the bottom/town and a slog out of town in the evenings. not such a problem if you are planning on driving to he trails.

still think Finale is best with a van. the area is vast and there are plenty of spots that the clmibers use to park up at night (climbers are generally proper cheapskates, IME).

Fly to Nice with bike bag. €20 cab to Nice St Germain station, €25 return train journey along the coast to Finale. Takes about 2 hours and is a nice little ride.

That was the plan, but flight times & train times don’t play nicely at all…

Aaaah I see. I’ve slept in the terminal in Nice before, or failing that, there’s a really cheap hotel opposite the station in the city centre, about €40 for a night in an actual bedroom of your own (or they have a hostel type arrangement too, bit cheaper but probably not as secure.

AirBNB can be good in that area, if you’re out of the peak season. Also try searching for “Agritourismo”. These are essentially B&Bs, but on a “farm” (being Italy it’s probably a tax dodge – having a goat and a fungaly crippled vine tree counts as a farm). Lots specialise in accomodating bikers.

There are loads of accomadation in the town that cater for bikes. Unless you are looking for next week and the EWS then you wont have a problem finding one to meet your requirements.

Finale Freeride now have their own campsite and pool but its a bit out of town.

We tend to stay on the Tahiti campsite with the camper which is more central to the main town.

We are setting off Friday night to drive down for the EWS so I will probably sleep most of the way. Cant wait to get out on the trails again.

Yes, stayed at the Finale Freeride last week in the van, quite a nice little set up. What’s the Tahiti site like Tracey?
I will be travelling in a group next year who are more prone to fly down. I’m thinking the bike shop in town that does the lift drop offs to the mountains may be able to offer airport transfers which would then allow us flexibility with Air BNB’s. Previous years we’ve stayed at Hotel Florenz which was good but like the thought of an Air.

Tahiti is good for location to main resort, they had been refurbishing alot of the facilities last year. No pool but thats what the sea is for. We tend to leave the camper and pedal to the old town for the uplifts.

Flights are booked already & to be honest, i’m so over that drive to the Alps having done it so many times i’ll put up with us having to rent a car for a week instead!
