I have been working on my bike today, new wheels, tyres, chainset, front and rear mechs, shifters, chain the lot. All done and then in desperation to finish as it was going dark and go for a quick spin i have managed to cross the thread on the drive side crank arm trying to put the effing pedal on. Looks like I have damaged it to about a 1/3 in so 2/3 is as new. Any advice on how i can sort it out? anyone have any suggestions? Many thanks, Matt

Just take it to the LBS and get them to run a tap though it

LBS, get the thread chased.

Can you thread it on from the back of the crank - CAREFULLY - using the thread of the pedal to re-thread the crank.
Then take it off and put it back on the right way round.
Not sure if it's necessary, but it might be worth putting a bit of chain lube to ease it through, but you should then take that off before using it in anger.
I normally use copperslip grease on my pedal threads to stop things seizing.Posted 2 years ago # -
screwing the pedal in from the other side should chase it fine

Many thanks, was considering that but didnt want to make it worse. Think will play it safe as the crankset was CRC bargain that i cant afford to replace. Thanks again
