I seem to remember a few people on here saying it was in need of some repair at the moment. We're off to Glentress for a long weekend and was wondering if it's worth spending a day here on Friday on the way up?

    Cheers in advance

Ae is hosting the Avalanche Enduro this weekend. Think it is open as usual on Friday, but they might be marking out track etc. Drumlanrig is just up the road for something a bit different?

There is a big diversion at Ae due to a fallen bridge. You could always cross the burn yourself.

Diversion is no more as posted on the blog today, full route is open. Trails are open on friday but as captain said you might encounter folk taping the track. Plenty of other options in the area if you want to go elsewhere.

All Diversions at Ae are now lifted. There has also been resurfacing works at Granny Green Luv and most of Bran Burn Bash, a lot of which has been done by volunteers. Surfacing at Nil Desperandum is due to start soon as well, so the areas where we were getting most of our complaints have now hopefully been addressed. The bombhole just before post 21 has been eventually finished, plus the small section of trail after The Edge which had been washed out when the river flooded has had a new line put in. From a mtbikers point of view, I'd say Ae is pretty good at the moment!

The red route and the Shredder are both closed for Saturday and Sunday due to the Enduro Avalanche, the trail is open on friday though!

SLW – Please don't encourage anyone to pass through diversions for 2 reasons. First is basic health and safety, its closed off for a reason. Second is that when a trail surface isn't finished you do a load of damage by tracking over it. Much more than you would believe. It then takes us longer to repair it, which in turn means the diversion stays in place for longer. So pleeeeease stay off unfinished trail!!!

    Cheers

3 of us rode Ae last night and it has improved big time. As FCRanger said above, the route is fully open, the resurfaced parts of the trail are riding fast and the bomb hole is mint! Nil Desperadum badly needs a bit of tlc and hopefully that'll happen soon. Can second the "Ae is pretty good at the moment" comment.
